Introduction

Welcome to the RVCC Pressbooks Network! In order to begin creating a book, you will need an account. Contact Megan Dempsey, RVCC Pressbooks Network Administrator, for an account.

This RVCC-specific guide is adapted from the Pressbooks User Guide with some information specific to how we use Pressbooks at RVCC. Built on our network, this guide also serves as an example of what your book may look like (in a relatively basic form). However, many of the features are customizable using themes or H5P interactivity, and depending on how you organize your book.

The next page provides you with a 5-step overview of the steps to create your book. The remaining chapters go into more detail, including the following sections:

• Understand the Authoring Dashboard – this will help you know how to navigate the Pressbooks platform, which is build on WordPress.
• Create Your Book – the ins and outs of how to import existing content, organize your book, create new content and edit what you’ve imported, keep your book accessible, build in media and interactivity, and more. Once you’ve completed this section, your book may be ready for the public!
• Advance Features – after you’ve got the hang of creating your book, this section introductions you to additional features
• Produce Exports – the final section will you prepare your book for additional format exports, like PDF and EPUB
