3.11 Contingency Planning

When implementing a strategy or plan it is important to consider alternate scenarios.  Things sometimes don’t go according to plan.

A contingency plan is an alternative plan that will be used if certain conditions arise.  A simple example is that a school will have a contingency plan if there is a heavy snowfall.  A business may have a contingency plan if the economy goes into a recession.  In 2000, very few businesses had a contingency plan for a pandemic.

A good contingency plan will identify the event and the actions to be taken.  You can think of a contingency plan as a Plan B.
